The eight-year-old joined her father Jay Z, 50, to watch the NBA game between the LA Lakers and LA Clippers on Sunday (8 March). It appeared to be a daddy-daughter date as Beyonce and her youngest children, two-year-old twins Rumi and Sir, were nowhere to be seen.
Despite her own father’s star power, Blue came over all shy when she met Lebron at the end of the game following his win with the Lakers.
In the NBA’s video footage, Blue jumps up and down and hides behind her father when Lebron walks up to them. After greeting Jay Z with a handshake, Lebron bends down and places both hands on Blue’s shoulder.
Jay Z is then heard encouraging the youngster to ask Lebron a question. Although the audio isn’t clear, it appears Blue asked for some kind of merchandise from the NBA legend. Lebron then says: ‘Do you have school on Monday?’ to which Blue nods. He then promises: ‘By the time you get out of school on Monday, you’ll have it.’
Whatever it is, no doubt Blue will be showing it off to her friends on Tuesday. Blue Ivy seemed to thoroughly enjoy her time sitting courtside at the Staples Center, and was fairly attentive towards the big game despite her young age. At one point, Jay Z leaned into Blue as she discussed the game and put a protective arm around his daughter’s chair. Watching the basketball players running up and down the court made Blue a little peckish and she was seen tucking into a packet of crisps during the game.
Big Pimpin’ rapper Jay Z was particularly enthusiastic about one part of the game and flashed both hands at the players, possibly giving them pointers. This time, Blue managed to keep her mobile phone away unlike when she joined her dad on the pitch at the Super Bowl. We’re guessing the youngster doesn’t take business calls on Sundays… Blue has switched up her hairdo this week and looked adorable with her braids after recently straightening her hair.
Last month, it was reported that Blue Ivy averages around one million listeners per month on Spotify despite not being an official artist. The student has made small appearances on songs by Beyonce and Jay Z but has not released a solo song, making her monthly listeners pretty impressive. It was then announced that Blue had won her first major music award, receiving an NAACP Image Award for outstanding duo/group alongside Beyonce, Saint Jhn and Wizkid for their track Brown Skin Girl, which features on the Lion King: The Gift album.
Blue features as a vocalist and co-writer on the track, which was released as part of the soundtrack to the Lion King live-action remake that hit cinemas last year. Beyonce has been keeping a low profile since she performed at the memorial for Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, who lost them life in a helicopter crash in January.
The Halo singer proved to be a pillar of support for Kobe’s wife Vanessa and was seen comforting the widow throughout the service.
