The LA Lakers star, 41, lost in a tragic helicopter crash on 26 January, alongside his teenage daughter Gianna. And the Hate It Or Love It rapper has shared a permanent memorial to the late basketball legend, getting his jersey number inked above his eye.
Taking to Instagram, the 40-year-old gave fans a glimpse into the design, showing the moment tattoo artist Sile Sanda got to work.
The inking shows a sideways black eight with white shadows, identical to the font of Kobe’s shirt. He captioned the snap: ‘F O R E V E R,’ alongside an infinity symbol.
The Game isn’t the only famous face to get a tattoo in tribute to the late star, with 2 Chainz also getting his 24 jersey number inked across both legs.
Kobe and Gianna, 13, lost last month in a helicopter smash in Calabasas, alongside seven other people on board. The chopper was also carrying Gianna’s team-mates, Alyssa Altobelli and Payton Chester, Alyssa’s parents, John and Keri Altobelli, Payton’s mother Sarah Chester and their basketball coach Christina Mauser, as well as pilot Ara Zobayan.
Tributes came pouring in for the sufferer from all over the world, with Kobe’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, announcing a memorial will be taking place on 24 February.
Sharing a sweet montage of Gigi playing basketball, the mum-of-four explained she was ‘mad’ that her daughter had been taken away from her.
‘I’ve been reluctant to put my feelings into words,’ she began. ‘My brain refuses to accept that both Kobe and Gigi are gone.
I can’t process both at the same time. It’s like I’m trying to process Kobe being gone but my body refuses to accept my Gigi will never come back to me. ‘It feels wrong.
Why should I be able to wake up another day when my baby girl isn’t being able to have that opportunity?! I’m so mad. She had so much life to live. ‘Then I realise I need to be strong and be here for my 3 daughters. Mad I’m not with Kobe and Gigi but thankful I’m here with Natalia, Bianka and Capri.
‘I know what I’m feeling is normal.
I just wanted to share in case there’s anyone out there that’s experienced a loss like this. God I wish they were here and this nightmare would be over. Vanessa concluded the message by urging fans to keep the sufferer in their minds. ‘Praying for all of the sufferer of this tragedy,’ she added. ‘Please continue to pray for all.’
