Kobe’s Prom Date Brandy Paid Tribute To Him And His 13-Year-Old Daughter, Gianna – Video

Since Kobe Bryant and daughter Gianna’s, 13, tragic leaving on Sunday, celebrities have taken to social media to express their distress. And singer Brandy finally spoke out on Friday when she delivered her sympathy to wife Vanessa Bryant and the rest of their distressing family via Instagram.

Brandy briefly dated the NBA legend back in the 1990s, even assuming the role of prom date to a then 17-year-old Kobe.’Never will I understand,’ wrote Brandy in the post shared with her nearly 5 million Instagram followers.

The 40-year-old actress penned her heart felt message in conjunction with an artistic photograph of the late Bryant and daughter Gianna. ‘My sympathy to @vanessabryant, and all families who are in pain during this tragic time.

Love #Mamba #Mambacita,’ concluded the distraught actress.

Brandy’s connection to Kobe goes all the way back to 1993 when Kobe took the then 16-year-old actress as his date to his senior prom.

In 1996, Bryant would walk hand-in-hand with the I Wanna Be Down singer during the premiere for the Chuck Russell film Eraser.

According to Just Jared, the young pair ‘went on a few dates,’ but, eventually, settled on friendship.

The helicopter crash that claimed the lives of nine individuals, which included Bryant and daughter Gianna, took place in Calabasas at around 10 in the morning on January 26th.

The nine sufferers include: John Altobelli, a baseball coach at Orange Coast College, his wife Keri and their daughter Alyssa; basketball coach Christina Mauser; Sarah Chester and her daughter Payton; and the pilot Ara Zobayan. What exactly caused him to crash remains unconfirmed but ‘all the signs’ point to the pilot not being able to see where he was going and not using altitude monitoring instruments, the source added, instead relying solely on his eyesight.
